Do you remember when your mom or Grandma would try out a new recipe and it was really wonderful?
I remember how it felt. I didn't have all the words then, but I felt cared for and special and loved. I saw how hard my mom tried to make every part of my life as good as she could.
At the Ranch, even during this time of COVID, we try to create special moments for the children. Food is a critically important part of a child's life - not only to keep them healthy but to say, "You are special and I made this to make you happy."
Our kitchen Ranchers on the Minot campus, led by one of our foodservice gurus, Christy Earl, recently put together a new menu item! It was a chicken/bacon/waffle sandwich with homemade maple sriracha aioli sauce. Great reviews and the kids loved the sauce! It was something new and exciting for our kids to try.
A new menu item may not seem like a big deal to most of us. For a child who has been abused or neglected, it may be the little thing that clicks. It may be the simple act that showed they are worth the time and effort and "something special." Isn't that what we all crave?
God's blessings on you always.
In His love,
Joy Ryan, President/CEO
