It is wonderful when a Ranch friend reaches out and connects with me. Whether it is in response to an email, a mailed note, or a phone call, I get to hear from truly wonderful people like you.
This week I heard from a gentleman who, with his wife, has supported the work of the Ranch for multiple years.
His note was to let me know that his wife, of 66 years, had passed away in August. He is 86 years old. He asked that we keep his wife’s name with his on the address of our mailings, because “just seeing her name inspires me.”
I have written many times in these emails about the importance of relationships in the healing of the children at Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch. Helping truly traumatized children dare to trust and rely on someone is a daunting task. Learning to trust enough to love someone is next level.
But sometimes, when our trust is real and whole and kind, it can last for 66 years…and beyond.
Please keep our children and staff in your prayers.
In His love,
Joy Ryan, President/CEO
Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch
