Bringing Your Best

Happy New Year from Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch!

I am Kris Ryan, the Mission Advancement Officer at the Ranch. In 2 weeks I will be celebrating my 7th "Ranchiversary," 4 years of working with our awesome kids in the residential program in Minot, and 3 years working with our (also awesome) Board of Directors and Leadership Team.

"To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift."
-Steve Prefontaine, World's Greatest Runner

The quote above hangs prominently in my office on our Fargo campus. I have run in a few races, but by no means have any aspiration of being one of the world's greatest runners. I hung this quote because it really strikes a chord with me in relation to the Ranch; the children we serve, the teams we work with, and the donors who bless us.

At the Ranch, we help the most troubled, complicated and amazing children by providing best-in-class therapy and trauma-informed care where we look kids in the eye, walk with them and help them become their best selves in this world and in Christ. In short, we help these kids find and become who they really are.

Every day I see our teachers, care workers, nurses, and therapists bring their gifts and their best to help heal and bring hope to the children we serve. We are called to be a part of this special mission. And with the prayers and support of our friends around the country, we can wrap each child in the care, love, and faith every child deserves. Our donors give their best, our staff give their best, and our children become their best. It really is a remarkable team effort with God as our hero and Christ at our center.

As we start this new year, I want to thank all of those that are a part of our team. They help to make all the difference.

Wishing you the best of 2019,

Kris Ryan
