Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch will receive funds from the Montana, Iowa West, and Iowa East Districts of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League to complete nutrition center updates on its Fargo campus to better meet the unique needs of the kids in care.
Children at the Ranch often come from unstable homes, so one of the first goals is to meet their basic needs for food, shelter, safety, etc. Children can’t heal if their needs aren’t being met at this basic level. New equipment for the nutrition center will allow the Ranch to serve children and staff more effectively, increase the variety of items offered during meals, reinforce good nutrition habits, teach children how to build balanced meals, and provide basic needs for children to begin healing.
The nutrition center is used daily by many people including staff, students at Dakota Memorial School, the Ranch’s on-campus school, and children in treatment at Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch.
Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch is a Christ-centered residential treatment and educational center for children and their families. We help the most troubled, complex, and amazing kids by providing best-in-class psychiatric therapy and trauma-informed care, where we look kids in the eye, walk with them, and help them become their best selves. In addition to Residential Treatment Facilities in Fargo, Bismarck, and Minot, the Ranch provides Outpatient Psychiatric and Psychological Services, and Spiritual Life Programs. Our on-campus school, Dakota Memorial School (DMS), provides individualized education for kids who have psychiatric, behavioral, and trauma issues.
The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) is the official women’s auxiliary of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Since 1942, the LWML has focused on affirming each woman’s relationship with Christ, encouraging and equipping women to live out their Christian lives in active mission ministries and to support global missions.
