I am always happy to find a good prayer.
I know I can just talk to God. The Holy Spirit will help me. Even sitting in silence with Him is powerful. Or, using the Lord’s Prayer is always an option! And there are lots of prayers created over time to “fall back on.”
But, I still like to keep my eyes peeled for a prayer that uses words in a way that expresses what I want to share with Him. Really, can there ever be too many ways to pray?
I found this prayer this week, and as a stubborn, decisive, strategic, business person, it helped me. The author is anonymous, but it is obvious they are wise.
A Prayer to Be Open to God’s Will
Good and gracious God,
I know that life can be unpredictable.
Sometimes I know what is good and right,
But I don’t have the courage to do it.
Sometimes I am so busy with my own affairs,
I forget to see the needs of the people in front of me.
Sometimes I am set in my own ways,
And I resist growing and learning.
Help me, O Lord, to be open to Your will.
When you prompt me to do the right thing,
Give me the courage to do it.
When those around me need my help,
Give me the heart to love them.
When I’m stuck in my own ways,
Give me the grace to grow closer to You each day.
Give me the trust and understanding of a true disciple.
Let it be done unto me according to Your word! Amen
