God-Inspired Interruptions

In a book I'm reading, the author talks about God-inspired interruptions, which reminded me of a recent moment of inspiration outside my office at the Ranch.

My office is situated across the hall from Shayla Leinen, Principal of Dakota Memorial School on the Fargo campus.

Throughout the school day, kids come to Shayla's office, sometimes with an emergency or a behavioral issue, and sometimes just to say hello. Shayla is amazing with our kids; she truly cares about each one of them.

On this particular day, two girls showed up and were asked to wait in the hall. One of the girls was having a bad day and using her words to, very loudly, express her feelings. I could hear bits and pieces of the conversation between the two girls, and what I heard was amazing. One girl was using what she had learned at the Ranch to help the other girl. The girl who was upset was calmed by the insights and conversation from the other girl.

This was an amazing God-inspired interruption for a couple reasons. First, it was a great reminder of how much kids are growing and learning at the Ranch, despite what has happened to them. Second, it reminded me that so many of you allow your lives to be interrupted by God to help our troubled, complicated, and amazing kids.

Like the good Samaritan who stopped and tended to an injured, half-dead man alongside the road, you stop what you are doing and have compassion on the kids at the Ranch through your prayers and financial support.

The conversation I overheard in the hall wouldn't have been possible if you didn't allow your life to be interrupted. Thank you for making a difference every day in the lives of the precious boys and girls we serve.

Blessings,

Tim
