Great River Energy awarded $1,000 to Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch to underwrite the costs of updating the salad bar on our Bismarck Campus. Funds received will be used as part of an overall transformation of the Nutrition Center on our Bismarck campus. The purchased equipment will allow us to offer additional healthy items during meals.
Our children often come from unstable homes, so one of our first goals is to meet their basic needs: food, shelter, safety, etc. Children can’t heal if their needs aren’t being met at this basic level. By having access to a greater variety of healthy food choices, our kids learn good nutrition habits they can take with them when they leave the Ranch.
The nutrition center is used daily by many people including staff, students at Dakota Memorial School (the on-campus school of Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch), and children in treatment at Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch.
Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch is a Christian residential treatment and educational center for children. At the Bismarck facility, fifty-five employees work together to help the most troubled, complicated and amazing kids by providing best-in-class psychiatric therapy and trauma-informed care, where we look kids in the eye, walk with them, and help them become their best selves. Our on-campus school, Dakota Memorial School (DMS), provides a personalized education for kids who have psychiatric, behavioral, and trauma issues.
Great River Energy, based in Maple Grove, Minn., provides wholesale electric service to 28 distribution cooperatives, which distribute electricity to approximately 665,000 members across Minnesota.
