Three of my favorite words to hear at the Ranch.
One boy (I'll call him Henry) comes to mind. From where I sit in my office, I can hear the kids as they go about their day—heading off to school, coming to meet with their therapist, or going to occupational therapy.
As I sat in my office one day over the winter, I could hear Henry as he came into the building. In a loud (not your normal loud, but LOUD), excited voice he said, "Hey Amy, I'm being discharged!" "Hey Nicole, I'm being discharged!" "Joy, I'm being discharged!" "Erinn, you know what? I'm being discharged!" And so on as he made his way through the building, sharing his excitement with everyone.
Henry's enthusiasm didn't diminish as the day went on. At lunch, he went table to table to share his great news, although I'm pretty sure everyone heard him the first time.
How can the words, "I'm being discharged," bring so much joy?
Before they get to the Ranch, our kids have experienced so much trauma and pain. In many cases, they've been told they're out of options. Now, they have succeeded, and they have a place to go! They are joyful because they did the work, completed their treatment, and now have hope for a better future.
Thank you for giving our amazing kids a chance to say, "I'm being discharged!" Because of your prayers and faithful support, we can celebrate their success and watch them move on!
