"It's a God thing."
That's what several of my good friends say when there is an unexplained "coincidence" that sort of sets the world right. Like when you are rushing to get to a doctor's appointment that you will be late for and the doctor's office calls to tell you the doctor is running 30 minutes late. That's a "God thing." Little, quiet, daily miracles that may or may not be happenstance. But, since He is in charge of everything, we give Him the glory.
These are complicated times. It is easy to feel like the world is really at odds with itself. Every day, I see children at Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch for whom the world has been a living nightmare. Costs for everything at the Ranch have gone up exponentially. Workforce issues across the country. Getting supplies is difficult. I pray and plan and seek counsel and work to ensure that the Ranch is always here for the children who need us. Every one of the several hundreds of people who work at the Ranch does the same. Thousands of supporters send money and prayers and kind words to encourage the work.
Yet, sometimes it is hard.
That's where I was when I was with a group of folks and the leader suggested we sing, "Christ Be My Leader," written in 1926 by Timothy Dudley-Smith. The second stanza was exactly the message I needed at that moment...
"Christ be my Teacher in age as in youth,
Drifting or doubting, for He is the truth.
Grant me to trust Him
Though shifting as sand,
Doubt cannot daunt me
In Jesus I stand."
"Grant me to trust Him." Yup. It's a God thing.
